Tuesday 14th October at 19.30. “Desert Island Dix” by Richard Bisgrove

What better way could there be to launch our Autumn 2025 series than a talk by Honorary CEHS Member Richard Bisgrove, with decades of both academic experience in garden design and in developing his own large garden, as he turns his thoughts to downsizing and selecting the 10 plants he just could not live without?

What are this “special” ten? Why would Richard choose them?

Please join us to get some real insights into the “best of the best” just in time for autumn planting!

Tuesday 11th November at 14.30. “How To Grow In Peat Free Compost” by Nicola Barker

As the traditional peat based composts we grew up with have been banned we are all having to adapt to using peat free “alternatives”. Results are often mixed! Are the successes luck or accident? Can future success be guaranteed and how? Were the failures our fault? What can we learn from our problems?

As the RHS Peat Free Compost Transition Coordinator Nikki Barker, no one is better placed to encourage us and put us right! Also as she is  based at RHS Wisley and lives near Brighton allocating one of our two afternoon talks to this subject provides a rare opportunity to learn about this essential topic from a true expert!

Please remember also that other gardener friends from the area are welcome to join us for this afternoon of “compost & cakes”. They just need to pay £2 at the door!
