Tuesday 10th March "Lawrence Johnston -Hidcote & Serre de la Madone" by Anna Steven. 7:30 PM Peppard War Memorial

Based near Oxford Anna Steven is an RHS Chelsea Gold Medal winner for floral design. She also lectures on art & garden history at the Ashmolean Museum and has a wealth of knowledge about Oxford College, Oxfordshire & Cotswold gardens.

Amongst the most famous of those Cotswold gardens is Hidcote, a superb arts & crafts garden created in the early 1900s by the reclusive American Lawrence Johnstone. Known for it’s imaginative use

of themed “garden rooms” it is now a National Trust treasure.

Hidcote was not however the only garden developed by Lawrence Johnston. 20 to 30 years after creating that gem, he laid out Serre de la Madone in the south of France. Here he focussed on sub-tropical plants more suited to the Mediterranean climate.

How do these inspiring gardens compare? Come and find out!
